Scope:   This unique curtainwall is 200,000 sq. ft. and utilizes a standard, unitized curtainwall system fabricated and assembled by CBO Glass at our facility in Buffalo, NY. It is attached to concrete floor slabs with embedded stud plates and an adjustable anchoring system to accommodate building tolerances in and out and up and down. The multi-colored features are created by changing the 1-inch insulated glass colors. Also constructed by CBO were the:

Scope:   A 247 unit, high-end luxury condominium that is 25-stories high and soars 400 feet above the Potomac River. It is the tallest condominium in the Washington DC metropolitan region and one of only a few residential buildings to be LEED certified as a "green" building. The project is approximately 920,000 square feet (565,000 square feet above grade and 355,000 square feet below grade) and includes a 6-level below grade parking garage. CBO Glass fabricated and installed all glass systems which included 250,000 square feet of Unitized Curtainwall and Unitized Balcony Framing. Also incorporated were:

Scope:   The International Monetary Fund Headquarters II Building located in the North West Financial District on Pennsylvania Avenue is a 12-story office building that is approximately 649,000 sq. ft. This prominent site is precisely half way from the white house grounds and Washington Circle. The design approach includes a central atrium which provides natural light to interior offices. In 2006 this building won "The Craftsmanship Award for Visual Excellence". As the Glazing Contractor on the project, CBO Glass was responsible for:

Scope:   Located in Buffalo's historic Niagara Square, the design of this 12-story Courthouse balances internal and external influences such as site and context, achieved through an elliptical form that maximizes building efficiencies and presents a stunning new image for the City. The glass entry pavilion on the street wall creates a courtyard interlocked with the elevator tower which is topped with a glowing lantern. Artwork consisting of large-scale translucent colored glass panels located in the entry pavilion were installed by CBO. The ribbed pre-cast enclosure of the ellipse meets exterior blast requirements.

Scope:   This 280,000 sq. ft. highly-sustainable administration building was built for LEED Silver Certification, Level Four (ISC/FPS) security and the assurance of a 24/7 mission critical needs. The new building is located on a 130-acre research park adjacent to the University of Maryland and adjacent to areas of existing woods and County parkland. The building also houses part of NOAA's National Environmental Satellite Data and Information Service. All glass systems were fabricated and installed by CBO Glass. The glass systems included in the construction of this state-of-the-art building included:

Scope:   This 475,000 sq. ft. office building is located in the heart of downtown Buffalo, NY and is in close proximity to the area's waterfront revitalization. Portions of an original 1848 facade were kept and incorporated in the new structure. The result is a modern and energy efficient LEED Silver Award building that has maintained historic integrity and design. CBO Glass fabricated and installed 40,170 sq. ft. of curtainwall. The elevation along the highway incorporated sound control laminated glass which provides a noise barrier to the traffic. The 39,200 sq. ft. of punched windows were fabricated and structurally glazed within the controlled environment of CBO's Alden Facility and then shipped to the site for field installation. A portion of these windows make up the 7-story atrium which services as the main entrance and lobby area of the building. Additional CBO Scope Items were:

Scope:   This multi-building complex situated on 9.5 acres of land is the headquarters for the FDIC. It has a 7-story office building with office space and training facilities for FDIC employees, and a residence building for students and instructors attending classes at the Center. There is an enclosed passageway linking the office building to the student residence, a fitness center, business center, swimming  pool, cafeteria, classrooms with state-of-the-art audio/visual resources. CBO Glass was responsible for 3 buildings clad with granite and conventional precast totalling 105,000 sq. ft.

This building also has 5 levels of parking below grade (764 spaces) and has a lobby finished in wood and stone that compliments the strong geometry of the building. Scope:   Located on a triangular site in the West End area of Washington, this 92-unit contenporary condominum with ground floor storefronts represents the architectural changes taking place in Washington, DC where modernist metal and glass is overtaking traditional masonry. The building envelope consists of 56,000 sq. ft. of curtainwall, 16,700 sq. ft. of three types of aluminum panels and 60,000 sq. ft. of zinc panels which act as a rain screen while creating a unique profile and a look of transparent architecture which distinguishes this residential building from others that typically have a uniform glass skin. Scope:   The objective for the building exterior was to create visual splendor with uncompromising strength against harsh weather jwith aluminum plate, strongly cantilevered butt glazing; dramatic point supported glass, and profiled zinc. The completed exterior features aluminum plate and glass with a rainscreen backup system of waterproofing, insulation and stainless steel.

Scope:   The Automatic People Mover Station is the newly installed subway that services all of the island terminals at the Dulles International airport. CBO Glass was involved in the design of the custom train tube enclosure's structurally glazed curtainwall system, in addition to the innovative decorative glass structures that highlight the new addition to the terminal.

Enclosed with 13/16-inch heat-soaked laminated glass, the train tube features 64 different ceramic frit patterns consisting of two-coated surfaces of overlapping stripe patterns. The entire Automatic People Mover Station took seven years to complete. CBO Glass' scope included all of the steel and glass that encloses the train system as it passes through the main station, including the main subway station security mezzanines, People Mover glass enclosure, glass flooring including two large glass bridges, elevator enclosures and glass ceilings that include two sloped glass ceilings at the exit escalators, overhead baggage bridge with a glass ceiling and two large sloped elevations of custom fabricated louvers, an entire stainless steel panel assembly that contains approximately 7,500 stainless steel panels, a four-sided structurally glazed elevator and train tube enclosure, and a custom curtainwall system.

Scope:   Milstein Hall will provide 47,000 additional sq. ft. for Cornell's College of Architecture, Art and Planning. Housed in 4 separate buildings and detached from campus atmosphere, Milstein Hall offers an opportunity to provide a space where the AAP's potential can finally be exploited.

The building provides a vast horizontal expanse that allows for studios, crit spaces, and study area.  There is a half-submerged lower cluster of public programs - auditorium, exhibition and crit spaces. CBO glass supplied 12,570 sq. ft. of Unitized Curtainwall, 2,000 sq. ft of furnished and installed skylights, 490 sq. ft. of guardrails, and all glass doors and aluminum entrances.
